This is a community service English course that will change your outlook on writing and volunteering as a whole. It is arranged and constructed into 3 phases. Phase 1: Students find and research 2 organizations that they are interested in. Phase 2: students volunteer at the organization that Professor Lang chooses for you. During phase 2 students complete an 8-10 page paper about the community organization and how it is helping the community. Phase 3: Students work with the organization to help create a communication plan that will benefit the agency and audience. Lastly, students work together on a website, where each group member talks about their experience in the class and volunteering for the organization.
